Cell-Division stage begins at Petal-fall and lasts about 23-27 days. It is very temperature dependent, with warm temperatures (above normal) speeding up the process and shortening the length of the stage. Like Bloom-Stage, a large volume of energy is required to support these activities. What activities? At this point, the tendency is to think of Cell-Division primarily in terms of the fruit and you would be partly correct. It is right, in terms of increasing fruit size potential at harvest, but Cell-Division also affects the canopy and it’s photosynthetic potential. This is crucial to support the fortified crops growth, development and improvement. Energy is vital.
